Jennifer Merchant

A Minneapolis native, a graduate of Savannah College of Art and Design, Merchant is an artist-explorer.

In her hands, acrylic material is pushed in endless ways to create something very new. A labor-intensive process, she uses woodworking tools and metal-smithing techniques as she explores and sculpts the materials’ possibilities.

She sandwiches foils, paper, printed materials between acrylic layers. Many of the printed pages come from used art books or exciting patterned papers that have significance to her.

She explores transparency, reflection, and magnification through manipulation and sculpting acrylic. Her works are a bold statement in both design and execution.
