Mia Leppo
Leppo’s art is inspired by botanicals and her ‘need’ to create volume from flat surfaces.
Using sheet steel almost exclusively, she builds 3D objects using a computer program. Much of her work is laser-cut. She combines contemporary methods and silicone cord with old fashioned steel and steel wire. She juxtaposes nature’s creations with man-made materials. Each piece is a statement reaching back in history while simultaneously engaging the newest of technology. Her neutral earth tones are complementary and easy to combine with a variety of styles.
