Tara Locklear
Locklear brings undervalued elements into focus in her work.
Inspired by urban environments, her designs are comprised of industrial and repurposed elements, resulting in a visual dialogue of interpretive costume jewelry. Created from sheet steel, cement, and recycled skateboards, her pieces all have an inherent beauty, memories, and strength beyond their functioning identity, which is what she hopes the wearer and the viewer will feel and appreciate. Locklear received a BFA from East Carolina University and lives in Raleigh, NC where she works as a jewelry artist.
